In this episode, I present a new feature that was released with Cellebrite Physical Analyzer 7.51.

Network Usage – View the sending and receiving of information via WiFi and cellular network connections.

To find this new feature, navigate to Analyzed Data in the left sidebar menu and you will see the new option Network Usage. You can select Network Stats to see the analytical view of the data. You can use this view to filter by many variables including SSID, Date started, Date created, and many more options.

On the right-hand side as you scroll down, if you find an area of interest, view the right panel to see details of the data event that occurred. You can find the path to the source files where the data is being pulled from. As always, we recommend you follow the source file path to verify the data.  Additional information is displayed below as to which applications were in use at that time.

For instance, if you are working on a malware investigation and find spikes in network activity in the graph view,  this can indicate when excessive communication activity occurred.
