Position Overview:
We are looking for a Senior AWS FinOps Engineer with deep hands-on AWS experience to own cloud cost optimization, financial governance, and platform efficiency at scale.
In this high-impact role, you will lead FinOps initiatives across multiple AWS accounts and Organizations, combining strong technical troubleshooting skills with financial insight. You will work closely with Engineering, Finance, Security, and Platform teams to drive cost visibility, accountability, and optimization—while building automation and guardrails that enable sustainable cloud growth.
What you’ll do:
- Lead AWS cost optimization efforts across multiple AWS accounts and AWS Organizations
- Analyze cloud spend, identify inefficiencies, and drive actionable cost-saving initiatives
- Optimize costs across EC2, EKS, networking, storage, and data transfer
- Manage and optimize Savings Plans, Reserved Instances, Spot usage, and purchasing strategies
- Design and enforce cost allocation models using tagging strategies and AWS Cost & Usage Reports (CUR)
- Build automation, tooling, and guardrails using Terraform and Python to prevent cost waste
- Perform deep technical troubleshooting, analysis, and root-cause investigations related to cloud usage and spend
- Partner closely with Engineering, Finance, and Security teams to establish cost governance and best practices
- Provide visibility and reporting on cloud costs, trends, and optimization impact
- Support scalable, secure, and efficient AWS platform operations
Requirements
- 8+ years of hands-on AWS experience in Cloud Engineering, DevOps, SRE, or FinOps-related roles
- Expert-level knowledge of AWS services and pricing models, including EC2, EKS, VPC, IAM, ALB/NLB, S3, CloudWatch, and networking
- Deep understanding of AWS Organizations, multi-account architectures, and cost governance at scale
- Strong experience optimizing EKS and containerized workloads from a cost and performance perspective
- Proven experience managing Savings Plans, Reserved Instances, Spot, and cost allocation strategies
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
- Strong scripting and automation skills using Python and/or Bash
- Solid understanding of cloud networking, security, and large-scale architectures
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to have:
- Experience with FinOps frameworks and best practices
- Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana)
- Experience building internal cost dashboards or tooling
