Throughout the month of May, we pause to recognize the service of men and women who have dedicated their lives to law enforcement. This line of work comes with long hours, irregular schedules, danger on the job and traumatizing scenes and images.

In the United States, National Police Week falls during the week of May 15, which was declared Peace Officers Memorial Day in 1962 by President John F. Kennedy. Each year, thousands gather in Washington D.C. for a series of events to honor those who are current or former law enforcement and honor those who lost their lives in the line of duty. May is also Law Enforcement Appreciation month, making this a unique time to thank those who have chosen to serve their communities.

Cellebrite is honored to partner with agencies across the globe in the shared mission to accelerate justice. Digital forensics plays a crucial role in modern investigations since nearly every crime involves digital evidence. The average case now involves between two and five devices and the average volume of data has doubled in the past two years. Advanced forensic solutions help accelerate data review and pattern recognition, saving precious time in the investigative process.

Advancing Justice with Digital Forensics

In New Mexico, digital evidence played a key role in the the multi-agency undercover Operation Overwatch. The operation involved state, local and federal agencies who had one common goal: catching suspected child predators. The chat operation involved individuals who thought they were speaking with children. Advanced forensic solutions allowed law enforcement to quickly gather and analyze necessary data to build a strong case against the suspects.

In Monroe County, Florida, the landscape is extremely spread apart. Detectives had to travel hours between Key Largo and Key West to handle evidence. Hundreds of hours have been saved by using advanced forensic solutions to securely and instantly share information.

Taking Care of their Own

Law enforcement officers often witness disturbing scenes and images, which can take a toll on their own well-being. So it is fitting that May also happens to be Mental Health Awareness Month. When it comes to taking care of officers’ mental health, the status quo is changing. With initiatives like the FirstNet Health and Wellness Coalition, officers now have more resources available than ever and the dialogue is growing.

Thank you for your service!

We are indebted to the work law enforcement does each day to make our communities safer. Thank you for your sacrifice, courage and persistence.
