Working on a very tight schedule, investigators in the Mexican
state of Chiapas gathered compelling digital evidence from
four mobile phones that led to a human trafficking bust —
halting the prostitution of two minors and a third adult victim,
sending the suspect to jail, and revealing information about
the customers.
Key Challenges:
Intense time pressure: The Public Ministry allowed the team only five days to extract and analyze the data from the mobile phones.
The task of collecting digital data from four different mobile devices: two
Samsung phones, one LG, and one Azumi.
The need to create a compelling report to present at a judicial hearing that would clearly show the evidence needed to prove the suspect’s involvement in the case.
