Important Updates for CCME Certificants: CASA and Recertification Grace Period
Dear valued CCME Certificants,
We have some important updates to share regarding the CCME Capstone certification track, and we want to ensure you are informed and prepared for the changes ahead.
As you may be aware, the CCME Capstone certification track has recently been enhanced to include CASA, covering crucial topics in the advanced analysis of mobile devices. However, we understand that when you earned your certification, CASA was not part of the requirements.
To ensure fairness and a smooth transition, all current CCME holders whose certifications expire in 2023, 2024, or up to January 31, 2025, will be grandfathered into the old recertification requirements. During this period, you will have the opportunity to recertify on CCME without requiring CASA in your record.
This means you can renew your certification without any additional obligations related to CASA, making the process seamless and hassle-free.
Clarifying CCME Recertification Requirements
To renew the CCME certification, participants must complete 21 additional hours of continuing education (CE) credits and hold a current CCO and CCPA certification. Proof of working in a forensic field is also required.
If you have not yet completed the CASA course, you must do so before the renewal deadline to maintain your CCME certification. CASA provides the most advanced smartphone analysis training offered by Cellebrite and is a mandatory component of the renewal process.
Navigating Recertification

As a gentle reminder, one of the requirements for CCME recertification is documentation verifying attendance at a minimum of 21 hours of continuing professional development related to mobile devices or digital forensics.
Acceptable training hours include those offered by reputable organizations like Cellebrite, IACIS, US Secret Service NCFI, other industry-leading digital forensic training vendors, or accredited colleges offering official digital forensics training.
While CASA is not mandatory for active CCME holders at this time, it presents an excellent opportunity for you to stay up to date with the testindustry practices and satisfy the total credit hours required for recertification. For proficient mobile examiners, a CASA Test Out exam will be available to provide the equivalent credits of the course.
Our Commitment
We greatly value your commitment to the CCME Capstone program and recognize your dedication to professional development. Our team is here to support you throughout the recertification process and beyond. If you have any questions or need assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
The addition of CASA to the CCME Capstone certification track is a significant step forward, and we are excited about the possibilities it brings to the world of digital forensics. As a CCME certificant, you now have the option to recertify without the CASA requirement during the grace period.
We encourage you to take advantage of this grace period to thoroughly evaluate your options and determine the best path for your continued growth in the field of digital forensics. Thank you for being a valued part of this community.
Best regards,
The Cellebrite Certifications Team
