This week I want to focus on the following issue that was asked by a police officer on a recent course and which makes a lot of sense.

If you have a specific conversation of interest, how can you filter within the messages or the chats to get to that specific item?

You can see a date and time on the image on the right. If you filter using Start Time or Last Activity, that is when the chain of conversations started and ended, but in this case, there were 148 times these people spoke to each other, so it isn’t easy to find a specific conversation.

However, there are several ways to get to it. One is by using Timeline, and in Timestamp, you can search according to specific days and times to get to the specific message.

You can also narrow down your search via the graph at the top of the screen.

Another way is if you generate a report where you filter by dates and times. I ran a report and now you can see the actual message that we are looking for.

So, if filtering in the Chats view is not making sense to you, because you are only seeing the start and end of the chain of conversations, leverage the timeline and the report to find the specific one you want within a chain of events.
