Transnational drug importation into and across the Asia-Pacific runs on networks: offshore controllers, local logistics cells, brokers and money movers, and on the encrypted handsets each of them carries. This session works through what investigators and intelligence analysts actually do with those devices: preserving volatile evidence at the point of seizure rather than lodging a locked phone and letting the data perish, reviewing and translating on-device communications to corroborate the investigative inference, and fusing multiple devices, communications records and movement data into a defensible network picture.
